I’m a designer, maker and silversmith creating unique, hand-crafted silver jewellery from my studio in Nottinghamshire.

My journey as a silversmith began over thirty years ago, when I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Jewellery, Silversmithing & Allied Crafts from London Guildhall University. Since then, my creative path has taken me through teaching, art and children’s books but always continuing my first love - working with silver.

During the early 1990s, while living in London, I gained valuable experience working alongside jewellers Susan May, Roger Stone and Jill Newbrook, as well as blacksmith Shelley Thomas. In 1995, a bursary brought me to Lincolnshire, where I established my own workshop and began running art workshops for children.

​

A move to Newark led to teaching jewellery and art at Newark College, including creative art sessions for adults with learning disabilities. Alongside my creative work, I trained as an Early Years teacher and spent more recent years working in primary schools, particularly with young children and those with special educational needs.

​

Working with young children inspired me to write, illustrate and self-publish two children’s picture books, Clarence the Cockerel and Eyes on Me! I love the idea that creativity, stories and pictures can open up new ways of learning and seeing the world.

Back to the bench

In 2025, I returned full time to silversmithing from my Nottinghamshire based workshop. I enjoy the wonderfully hands-on nature of silversmithing: forging, shaping, piercing and experimenting with silver to create pieces with character, texture and individuality.

I’m particularly drawn to the process of reticulation, which creates beautifully organic textures and forms in silver. These make a lovely contrast to the colour and sparkle of gemstones such as tourmalines.

My designs are influenced by the things that make me stop and look while exploring beaches and woodland landscapes, and those rare, magical moments when a deer or other wildlife appears unexpectedly along the way.

I hope a little of that sense of wonder finds its way into the jewellery I make.

Every piece you see here has been designed and made by me. Because my jewellery is handcrafted rather than mass-produced, each piece has its own subtle character and story.

I also make hand-crafted silver guitar plectrums, and I’m lucky to share my creative life with my husband, Andy Wheeldon, a luthier and toolmaker.

As well as making jewellery, I deliver silversmithing courses at the Art Smart studio in Newark, Nottinghamshire, where I also sometimes lead art classes.
